Nancy pelosi, the current serving speaker of the united states House of Representatives insisted President Trump took his annual State of The Union speech in the Oval office.

“He can give it in the Oval Office,” Pelosi told reporters, while masking her request as a suggestion.

In a letter to President Trump, Pelosi cited security concerns over the 26 days record of partial government shutdown, asking him to postpone the State of The Union Address to a joint session of congress scheduled on the 29th of January.
She posted her later to Trump on twitter recommending the State of The Union be delayed

But Pelosi’s claim was refuted as Homeland Security chief Kirstjen Nielsen wrote on Twitter that both agencies are good to go.

Meanwhile thegatewaypundit reported; A senior DHS official says “the Secret Service is ready for President Trump’s State of the Union on January 29 and that no one from Nancy Pelosi’s office checked with the Secret Service before requesting delay”

Also reported;
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Pelosi’s request was “unbecoming” and motivated by politics, not security concerns. He added “It is not a security issue — that’s politics. It’s pure politics”

And when asked whether Trump should still speak in the House on January 29th if Pelosi rescinds the invitation, McCarthy replied: “Yes, absolutely.”

Pelosi’s request was also met by a backlash by many who shared their thoughts on tweeter

UPDATE: After HMS Chief Kirstjen said the Department of Homeland and U.S State Security Services are capable of handling the Security issues for the upcoming State of The Union Address.

Nancy Pelosi still told reporters she doesn’t care if they could handle it or not. Proving House minority leader Kevin Macarty right for saying this is purely politics for Pelosi.

According to Thegatewaypundit,
Pelosi told reporters wednesday night she “doesn’t care” if the Secret Service is prepared to secure the State of the Union address scheduled for January 29.

It is required by Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution that the President “give to the Congress information of the State of the Union, and recommend their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.”

The Democrats are proposing that President Trump submit his State of the Union address in writing rather than give a speech.
