Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein who is under fire for alleged coup against the president is finally set to leave the DOJ by mid-march. Although sources say Rosenstein’s departure is not related to the controversy, he faces possible Indictment from his Republican counterparts. BBC reporting said,
“Senator Graham described it as “stunning” and pledged to hold a hearing at the Senate Judiciary Committee to determine “who’s telling the truth” and that he could issue subpoenas – a court order forcing a witness to appear to give testimony – “if that’s what it takes”.
On tuesday, right after Trump announced his nomination of Jeffrey A. Rosen as new Deputy Attorney General to replace Rosseinstein, the DOJ released a statement by AG Will Barr saying,
Jeffrey Rosen is a distinguished lawyer who has served at the highest levels of government and the private sector. Adding that his years of outstanding legal and management experience make him an excellent choice to succeed Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
Trump previously tweeted that “William Barr is arriving at a Justice Department that desperately needs an infusion of credibility.”
AG Will Barr is now in charge of the Russia Witch Hunt operated by Special counsel Robert Mueller. An investigation previously overseen by Rod Rosseinstein and is approaching its end.
