Donald Trump vows to Veto pelosi attempts to block border state of emergency.
After a long lasting battle between President Trump and the Democrats, Congress aproved a $1.37 billion funding short of the $5.7 billion Trump had previously asked for to build the U.S-Mexico border wall.
In response, Trump declared a border state of emergency. A move Dem. Rep. Joaquin Castro of Texas called a “Power Grab.” He also said the President is likely to do this again if “Congress rolls over.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also accused Trump of lying about an emergency at the southern border, saying he only declared the national emergency to “honor an applause line in a rally.”
In addition to law suit filled by sixteen states, the House Democrats led by Nancy Pelosi, introduced a Resolution on friday as one of the steps to challenge Trump’s decision to taking money away from congress.
When asked, Trump said
On the wall? Will I veto it? One-hundred percent. One-hundred percent, and I don’t think it survives a veto. We have too many smart people that want border security, so I can’t imagine that it could survive a veto, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
Trump also praised the current efforts by border security agents, saying “If we had the wall, it would be much easier, and frankly it would be a job that would be perfecto and would cost ultimately a lot less money.
‘Don’t be fooled, it’s well within the right of the president to declare a national emergency at the southern border.’
