Last week, the Chairman of The House Oversite Committee Elijah Cummings said in a statement, warning Cohen about the consequences of lying to congress again.
“I have made it abundantly clear to Mr. Cohen, that if he comes here today and he does not tell the truth, tell us the truth, I will be the first one to refer those untruthful statements to DOJ.” “So when people say he doesn’t have anything to lose, he does have a lot to loose if he lies.” Said Cummings.
Not withstanding, Cohen testimony was filled with bogus, well refined habitual lie as it fits his status ‘Pathological Liar’, while Cummings who claimed to be a straight shooter like every other Democrat, might have lied through his teeth. Because so far, he appears to be hesitant in referring Michael Cohen to the DOJ.
Elijah Cummings rejected the request of two GOP Commitee members; Mark Meadows, the U.S Rep. of North Carolina and Jim Jordan, the U.S Rep. of Ohio to join them in making a criminal referral of Michael Cohen to the Justice Department for possible perjury charges over his testimony.
Among several lies Cohen told the Committee, his denial for having seek for presidential pardon and a seat in the Trumps administration seems to stand out more.
“I have never asked for, nor would I accept, a pardon from Mr. Trump,”
I did not want to go to the White House. I was offered jobs.” Cohen claimed.
Rep. Mark Meadows tweeted
“Michael Cohen unequivocally said he NEVER sought a pardon from POTUS. But read this letter. His attorney now admits Cohen DID ask RE: a pardon, through counsel last year. They’re walking back a claim made unequivocally under oath. “Never” didn’t really mean “never.” Laughable. https://t.co/RQpetBkfjb ”
Rep. Jim Jordan also urged Cummings to stand by his words and join them in referring Cohen to the DOJ. He tweeted
“.@RepCummings there is clear and indisputable evidence that Michael Cohen did not testify truthfully before our committee. We expect you will now follow through with your commitment to hold Cohen accountable.https://t.co/6Xr4WbqZ6M ”
Senator Lindsey Graham also blasted Cohen, saying “Cohen is a leaky ship to begin with” one who has a story to tell. “There was discussions about a pardon and he denied it, but that just furthers the narrative that maybe he’s not the best conveyor of the truth.”
