Trey Gowdy, Former Chair of the House Intelligence Committee appeared on “Fox News” with Martha MacCallum on Wednesday after the release Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report. Trey called out Comey for his premature victory of vindication which IG Horowitz testified before the Senate Committee on Wednesday to be false.
“I don’t know what report Comey read. This is the third IG report that has found his conduct to be substandard. Trey said… if he wants to take a victory lap because he not indicted, more power to him.” Trey added, just before blasting Comey directly…
“Don’t write any more books on ethics… Don’t tell me what the ethical standard is if you think this report vindicates you.”
In an oped written by James Comey on Monday, the Former FBI Director claimed he was ‘vindicated’ by IG report on Russia probe —
But most important, Horowitz’s report found that the investigation was opened and conducted according to the rules, finding no “evidence that political bias or improper motivation influenced [the] decision” to start it or how to run it. Those of us who knew that truth had to remain silent while a torrent of smears and falsehoods flowed from the White House, from some congressional committee chairmen, the attorney general and Fox News personalities.
During Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on the investigative FISA report with DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz on Wednesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham asked IG Horowitz if Comey was vindicated?
“The former FBI Director James Comey said this week that your report vindicates him. Is that a fair assessment of your report?” Graham asked.
“You know, I think the activities we found here don’t vindicate anyone who touched this,” Horowitz said.
